Romantic and Victorian Art

To help you toward a visual understanding of the major literary/historical periods of our study, I have selected a few links to the works of the key artistic figures and movements of nineteenth-century England. The list is by no means exhaustive, but it should give you enough of a "feel" for what was happening in the art world to appreciate its parallels with the writing of the time.

Most of these links were taken from the "The Modern and Postmodern World" section of the Gateway to Art History, "a compilation of information resources available through the World Wide Web to students, and anyone else, interested in the history of art."
