Course description: ENGL 1302 is largely an introduction
to writing about literature and is designed to reinforce, extend,
and refine the writing skills you developed in ENGL 1301. In addition,
you will continue to focus upon the logic of using secondary sources
and the mechanics of research writing. However, it has a broader
significance. As you explore literature through reading and writing--focusing
specifically upon the genres of short fiction, poetry, and drama--you
will be given ample opportunity to 1) sharpen your critical reading
skills, 2) respond personally to the experiences communicated in
a literary work, and 3) share that response with others through
written expression. Prerequisite: ENGL 1301; working knowledge
of the Internet, email, and word-processing.
Responsibilities
You will be expected to read each assignment and actively participate
in all online discussions and exercises. There will be reading quizzes,
five short critical papers, and a written final examination. (Two
on-campus meetings are required. Click here
